Exploring the Cascadia Bioregion

The Kilted Hiker (TKH) is a collection of long- and short-form videos exploring life in the Cascadia Bioregion ~ through hiking, packrafting, overlanding, and outdoor cooking. From trail routes to meals at camp or at home, each piece is grounded in real experience.

Through film, original music, field notes, and practical experience, TKH documents what it takes to move through this landscape ~ what works, what doesn’t, and how the environment shapes the way we travel, eat, and prepare.

Some places are well known. Others are not. The goal is simple: pay attention, learn from the land, and share the experience honestly.

Who I'm building this community for

This is for people who want to learn, collaborate, and celebrate a bioregion as diverse and unique as the people who call it home.

Whether you’re planning a trip through the places I cover or simply experiencing it from afar, I’ll share trail routes, recipes, from backcountry meals to regional cooking, along with Search & Rescue insight, history, and field notes along the way. for the trail… and those who pay attention to the details—maps, weather, terrain, and the lessons that come with them.

The Cascadia Collective

The Cascadia Collective is a private, ad-free community for those who care deeply about the wild places of the Pacific Northwest and how we move through them.

Hosted on a private Discord server, the forum is a space for deeper conversation—trip reports, trail conditions, gear insights, recipes, photography, local knowledge, and stories from across the bioregion. No algorithms. No ads. No data mining. Just thoughtful exchange with people who value respect, curiosity, and experience.

Help Build the Heart of TKH

The Cascadia Collective is still taking shape—and founding members help guide what it becomes. Your support directly funds new TKH films, recipes, routes, and community features while keeping the space independent and intentional.

Founding Members receive $12 annual legacy pricing for 2026 and that rate locked for life. If you’re looking for a meaningful alternative to mainstream social platforms—one built around shared values and real connection—you’re welcome here. New to Discord? Access is simple on web, desktop, or mobile.

Upcoming Adventures

July ~ Vancouver Island Road Trip: This summer I’ll be heading north on a road trip through British Columbia with my mom, traveling the length of Vancouver Island before catching the ferry from Port Hardy to Bella Coola. From there we’ll cross the wild interior of B.C. along Highway 20 through the Chilcotin, returning south through the Fraser Canyon. Along the way we’ll mix in day hikes, coastal stops, and a chance to experience some of the lesser-traveled corners of Cascadia. If you live along this route and have favorite trails, viewpoints, or local spots worth exploring, I’d love to hear from you.

August ~ The Skagit River: 10 Day Source to Sea. In August I’ll be packrafting a section of the Skagit River, traveling through one of the great river valleys of the North Cascades. This trip will focus on slow travel by water, with time to explore gravel bars, side channels, and the quiet corners of the river corridor that are easy to miss from the road or trail. If you know this stretch of river and have insights about good launch points, camps, or interesting spots along the way, I’d love to hear from you.

September ~ The Sunshine Coast: In September we’ll be heading back to British Columbia for a family trip exploring the Sunshine Coast along the Salish Sea. We’ll be traveling by ferry and road through small coastal communities, forested trails, and quiet inlets, taking time for short hikes and coastal exploration along the way. If you live along the Sunshine Coast and have favorite trails, viewpoints, or local spots worth visiting, I’d love to hear your recommendations.
